Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

This policy explains what information glitr collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. glitr ("we," "us," "the Service") is a non-commercial parody/tribute site. We are not affiliated with MySpace or any other social network.

Please read this alongside our Terms of Service, which includes our Community Guidelines.

1. This is a public space

glitr is not a private, protected, or confidential space. Content you post — your profile, display name, photos, comments, Top 8, bulletins, and anything else you share — is visible to other users and to us. Do not post anything you would not want seen publicly, retained, or reviewed.

We do not promise privacy for content you post. Treat everything you put on glitr as public.

2. Information we collect

You give us:

  • Account information: email address and password (passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text).
  • Profile content: display name, photos, "about me" text, profile song selection, Top 8, and any other content you add.
  • Content you create: comments, bulletins, and messages to other users.

We collect automatically:

  • Basic technical data: IP address, browser type, and timestamps, used for security, abuse prevention, and keeping the Service running.
  • Limited activity data: when you signed up, last activity, and similar operational records.

We do not run advertising trackers, sell your data, or share it with data brokers.

3. How we use information

We use your information to:

  • Operate the Service (show your profile, deliver comments and bulletins, authenticate logins).
  • Keep glitr safe: detect, investigate, and prevent abuse, spam, fraud, and violations of our Community Guidelines.
  • Respond to legal obligations and lawful requests (see Section 6).
  • Communicate with you about your account when necessary.

4. We scan and moderate content

We reserve the right to review, scan, and moderate any content on glitr, at any time, for any reason or no reason. This includes automated scanning and human review. We do this to enforce our Community Guidelines, comply with the law, and keep the community livable.

We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or terminate accounts at our sole discretion. See our Terms of Service for details on moderation and enforcement.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only:

  • With other users: anything you post publicly is visible to them.
  • With service providers: infrastructure vendors (e.g., hosting and database providers) that operate the Service on our behalf, under confidentiality obligations.
  • For legal reasons: see Section 6.
  • To protect the Service: to enforce our terms, prevent harm, or protect the rights and safety of users and the public.

6. Law enforcement and legal requests

Although glitr is a parody hobby project, we comply with applicable law and respond to valid legal process. We may disclose information — including account details, IP addresses, and content — in response to subpoenas, court orders, warrants, or other lawful requests, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with the law or prevent harm.

We report child sexual abuse material (CSAM) to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) as required by law, and cooperate with resulting investigations.

7. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to operate the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our terms. Some records (including logs and moderation records) may be retained after account deletion where we have a legal or safety reason to do so.

8. Your choices

  • You can edit or delete most profile content at any time.
  • You can request deletion of your account by emailing data@glitr.space. We will delete your account and associated content, subject to the retention exceptions above.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information. Email data@glitr.space to make a request.

9. Children

glitr is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

10. Security

We use reasonable measures to protect your information, including hashed passwords and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, and because glitr is a public space, the best protection is not posting sensitive information in the first place.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new "last updated" date. Continued use of glitr after changes means you accept the updated policy.

12. Contact

Questions, requests, or reports: contact@glitr.space (for abuse or security reports, use security@glitr.space)
