Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2026

Welcome to glitr. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and glitr ("we," "us," "the Service"). By creating an account or using glitr, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

Please also read our Privacy Policy.

1. What glitr is

glitr is a non-commercial parody and tribute to the social networks of the mid-2000s. It is a hobby project provided free of charge, "as is," for personal, non-commercial enjoyment.

glitr is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to MySpace, its current or former owners, or any other social network or company. Any resemblance to such services — in name, layout, features, or style — is affectionate parody and homage. All third-party names and trademarks belong to their respective owners.

2. This is a public space, not a private one

glitr is a public platform. Content you post is visible to other users and to us. glitr is not a private, confidential, or protected space. Do not post anything you would not want to be seen publicly, stored, reviewed, or disclosed. We make no promise of privacy regarding content you post.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use glitr. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement and that you are able to form a binding agreement.

4. Your account

You are responsible for your account and everything that happens under it. Keep your password secure. You may not impersonate others, create accounts to evade a ban, or share your account in a way that violates these Terms.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of the content you post. By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and distribute that content for the purpose of operating and moderating the Service. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies retained for legal, safety, or backup reasons, and except for content others have already interacted with (e.g., a comment you left on someone else's profile).

You are solely responsible for what you post, and you represent that you have the right to post it.

6. We moderate, scan, and enforce

We reserve the right to review, scan, moderate, remove, restrict, or refuse any content, and to suspend or terminate any account, at any time, for any reason or no reason, at our sole discretion — with or without notice.

This includes automated scanning and human review. We are a small hobby project and cannot review everything, and we are not obligated to monitor content. We may review, remove, or act on content or reports at our discretion, but we are not required to.

Enforcement is not a court. We are not required to explain our decisions, provide a hearing, or reinstate removed content or banned accounts. Our judgment on what belongs on glitr is final.

7. Community Guidelines

These guidelines are part of these Terms. Breaking them can get your content removed or your account suspended or terminated. In short: don't be a jerk, don't break the law, and don't ruin this for everyone else.

You may not post, share, or do any of the following:

  1. Illegal content or activity. Anything that violates applicable law, or that promotes or facilitates illegal acts.
  2. Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or child exploitation. Zero tolerance. Any sexual content involving minors, or any content that sexualizes, grooms, or endangers children, will be removed and reported to NCMEC and law enforcement. This is non-negotiable.
  3. Threats and violence. Threats of violence, incitement to violence, or content that promotes or glorifies terrorism or violent extremism.
  4. Harassment and bullying. Targeted harassment, stalking, coordinated pile-ons, or content intended to degrade or intimidate a specific person.
  5. Hate speech. Content that attacks or dehumanizes people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or similar protected characteristics.
  6. Non-consensual and sexually exploitative content. Non-consensual intimate imagery ("revenge porn"), sextortion, or sexual content involving anyone who has not consented.
  7. Sexual content and nudity in public areas. Keep it PG. Pornographic or sexually explicit material is not allowed on profiles, comments, or bulletins.
  8. Doxxing and privacy violations. Posting someone else's private information (home address, phone number, financial info, government IDs, etc.) without their consent.
  9. Impersonation and deception. Pretending to be someone else, or misrepresenting your identity or affiliation in a way meant to deceive.
  10. Spam, scams, and fraud. Bulk unsolicited messaging, phishing, pyramid schemes, malware, deceptive links, or artificial engagement.
  11. Malicious code and security abuse. Uploading malware, attempting to break, overload, probe, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' accounts. (This includes any current or future custom-styling features — you may not use them to inject scripts or attack other users.)
  12. Self-harm content. Content that encourages or instructs others in suicide, self-harm, or disordered eating. If you're struggling, please reach out to someone you trust or a local crisis line.
  13. Intellectual property infringement. Posting content you don't have the rights to. See our DMCA section below.
  14. Circumventing enforcement. Evading bans, filters, or restrictions.

We may add to or refine these guidelines over time.

8. Reporting violations

If you see something that violates these guidelines, you can report it to security@glitr.space. We may review reports and remove content or take other action at our discretion, but we don't guarantee that we'll review any particular report, respond to it, or take action. Reporting something doesn't create any obligation on our part.

9. Copyright / DMCA

If you believe content on glitr infringes your copyright, send a notice to security@glitr.space with: (a) identification of the copyrighted work; (b) identification of the infringing material and where it is on glitr; (c) your contact information; (d) a statement of good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized; (e) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and you are authorized to act; and (f) your signature. We remove infringing content and may terminate repeat infringers.

10. Law enforcement and legal compliance

Being a parody doesn't exempt us from the law. We comply with applicable laws and valid legal process, and may disclose account information and content in response to subpoenas, court orders, warrants, or lawful requests, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to comply with the law or prevent harm. See our Privacy Policy for details.

11. No warranties

glitr is provided "as is" and "as available," with no warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that content will be preserved. This is a hobby project run in our spare time. It may go down, lose data, or shut down entirely, at any time, without notice.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, glitr and anyone involved in running it will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Because glitr is provided free of charge, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to zero dollars ($0.00) to the extent the law allows.

13. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold harmless glitr and its operators from claims arising out of your content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.

14. Termination

You can stop using glitr and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate your access at any time under Section 6. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification) survive.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new "last updated" date. Continued use after changes means you accept them.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
